How to Find a Credible Plastic Surgeon on Instagram

Instagram is flooded with photos of body confident fitness buffs and bikini models who are setting the standard for #bodygoals. So unsurprisingly, the platform has become a popular avenue for people to find a plastic surgeon. However, recent findings have revealed that caution must be used when searching Instagram for plastic surgery services.

According to an article by CBS News, the majority of plastic surgery hashtags originate from accounts of physicians who aren’t board certified plastic surgeons. The article also went on to detail a few other compelling statistics:

  • Four out of five top Instagram posts with plastic surgery-related hashtags come from providers who aren’t eligible for membership in the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery(ASPS)
  • 26% of top Instagram posts about plastic surgery come from physicians in other specialties (ex: gynecologists, dermatologists, general surgeons)
  • 5% of posts were from non-physicians doing plastic surgery at dentist offices, spas and hair salons

It is always alarming to learn plastic surgery procedures are being performed by unqualified people. Despite the scary news though, you can still find reputable plastic surgeons through Instagram. By looking out for a few key factors on Instagram, you can identify whether or not a plastic surgeon is worth considering.

(Hash)tag – You’re It!

Plastic surgery providers will often add generic hashtags such as #plasticsurgery, #tummytuck or #boardcertified to their Instagram posts, but these do nothing to reveal credibility. Here are some examples of industry hashtags you should be looking for:

  • #ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgeons)
  • #ASAPS and #trustASAPS (Aesthetic Society)
  • #IASPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic surgery)
  • #BAAP (The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons)
  • #AAAASF (American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities)

When observing a post, see if they include hashtags related to a certification society. Often in my own Instagram posts, I will include the #ASPS hashtag myself.

dr wigoda instagram post plastic surgeon south florida

For plastic surgeons outside of the U.S., research the premier associations in their operating country and see if they use their associated hashtags within their Instagram posts.

Judge their Bio

You can learn a lot about a plastic surgeon from what they choose and what they don’t choose to share. The Instagram bio offers a large opportunity for a provider to sell what makes them the best choice for a plastic surgeon. Any proficient plastic surgeon will include their degree/title, a statement such as “Board Certified Plastic Surgeon by the American Board of Plastic Surgery” and a link to their website. With my own Instagram bio, I made sure to include all of that information to establish my credibility.

dr wigoda instagram

(Source: Instagram)

If a plastic surgeon omits any of that information, proceed with caution until you can verify their certification to be safe.

Do a Certification Check

While many plastic surgery service providers try to cover up their lack of credentials, there are many board-certified plastic surgeons who are simply not good at using Instagram. Before jumping to conclusions, you can search the following online databases to check if a plastic surgeon has been certified by the leading industry associations:

  • The American Board of Plastic Surgery’s website
  • The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery website
  • International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery website
  • The American Board of Medical Specialties website

Start the Instagram Search

I guarantee you can verify if a doctor is a board-certified plastic surgeon by the American Board of Plastic Surgery by following this advice. However, while researching online helps, contacting the plastic surgeon and asking them specific questions in person will help you discern if they are a credible choice and the right choice for you.

How Can Vaginal Rejuvenation Change Your Life?

Vaginal rejuvenation o-shot

Designer vaginas are trending thanks to vaginal rejuvenation. You don’t have to be a reality star or live in Beverly Hills to experience the pleasures of this life-changing and non-surgical technique. Fort Lauderdale’s Dr. Paul Wigoda can take care of that with a new service repackaging a woman’s land down under.

Your vajayjay. Your hooha. Your lady bits.

These are all words to describe one piece of anatomy most females have in common: the vagina.

While most are pretty private when talking about their “cookie,” we all share experiences (thanks to our vaginas) that help so many ladies define womanhood.

For example: Your first period. Losing your virginity. Birthing your first child (or your second…or your third…twins anyone?). Menopause.

But there are some shared experiences that are almost never discussed in the open: Bladder leakage. Kegels. Orgasms. Sex in general.

And that’s why all people with vaginas need to know about vaginal rejuvenation.

Vaginal rejuvenation is comprised of two different procedures, which can be performed separately or together. These procedures are Labiaplasty and Vaginoplasty.

The Lust of Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is very much what it sounds like–a surgery performed on the Labia Minora, or what many may refer to as their inner lips. This procedure is mainly to alter the shape or size of your labia or clitoral lid (which is the tissue/skin that covers the clitoris). While many women might have this procedure to make their “lips” symmetrical, it can duelly help ease discomfort caused by large labia. The surgery can also help increase clitoral sensitivity, a perk when it comes to sexual health and pleasure.

Vaginoplasty Ventures

As opposed to Labiaplasty, Vaginoplasty is less a cosmetic surgery and more a procedure to help tone and strengthen your vaginal muscles. Life isn’t always rainbows and butterflies, and having children or going through the natural aging process (especially the dreaded menopause) can not only affect your vagina, but your self-esteem. Weakened vaginal muscles can lead to “leaky” bladders, less sensation during sex and overall less sensitivity in the vaginal region. Vaginoplasty helps tighten the muscles down below, helping many women feel more confident about the control they have over their bladder and sexual life. Vaginoplasty is performed a variety of ways, from the O-Shot (short for Orgasm Shot) to laser treatments to cutting and restitching the vagina.

Orgasmic O-Shot

Dr. Wigoda specializes in many things, including the O-Shot, a procedure where they take blood out of your arm and inject it into your vagina, using the platelets from your blood too, “trigger stem cells to increase blood flow and generate healthy tissue growth as well as helps improve the vascularization of the area,” according to Dr. Sharif Wakil in this Independent.Co article.

According to an interview with one of Dr. Wigoda’s own patients, the O-Shot can help with bladder leakage, sensitivity and blood flow in the vaginal area.

“It has absolutely increased orgasms in number, in intensity, it has also tightened my vaginal region, and it has improved any little bit of bladder problems that I had,” the patient said.

The procedure is pretty simple, you’re numbed, blood is taken from your arm and injected into your vagina.

“It is not painful at all,” the patient said.

After the procedure, results are instant.

“Instantly I had increased bladder tightness, increased vaginal tightness. Within a week I noticed the sensitivity with orgasms was really increasing,” she said.

Once you leave the office, you’re given a simple-to-use tool that looks like a vibrator but has an electric plate that causes you to do kegels, or pelvic floor muscle training exercises. This tool starts on a low setting and can increase as you feel more comfortable.

“They said the only side effect from using the intensity that women have had is increased orgasms, and that’s definitely the case,” the patient said about the tool.

This pain-free, pleasurable device is used once a day for 10 minutes over the course of 10 weeks to help increase the effects of the O-Shot.

“It’s definitely been one of the best things I did. I would recommend it and I would do it again,” the patient said about the O-Shot experience.

The Pros

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love to orgasm? These procedures help you maintain great sexual health, and can help your mental and spiritual health as well. Sex is one amazing part of life, and if you’re not enjoying it solo or with your partner, you’re not taking care of the part of your body that’s so often forgotten about, to begin with.

Some of these techniques, like the O-Shot, are amazing non-invasive procedures with instant results. And those procedures that are invasive have pretty little downtime.

And let’s not forget that Vaginoplasty can help women with bladder issues regain control over their body.

Overall, these procedures encourage women to take care of all of their body and feel sexually empowered.

The Cons

Procedures like Labiaplasty are invasive, meaning your body is going to need more time to heal. Procedures like the O-Shot are non-invasive, but you still go through a procedure where your practitioner will draw blood and numb your pelvic area. With any procedure comes risk, which is why you should always consult with your doctor.

Not to mention that procedures like these get a bad rep. From reality TV stars like Kelly Dodd from the Real Housewives of Orange County getting a laser vaginal rejuvenation procedure done, to the overall stigma that we’re not supposed to talk about vaginas in public, you might turn some heads if you openly talk about your experience.

But take it from those who are already in the spotlight, “As you get older, in your forties and if you’ve had a baby, sometimes you get stressed, incontinence, and so if you jump rope or you cough, you might leak a little bit and that, I know it sounds gross, but a lot of women have it,” Dodd said.

Your Vagina, Your Decision

Overall, what you decide to do with your body is your choice and your choice alone. Although these procedures could definitely spice it up in the bedroom between you and your partner, what you do with your vagina is your decision. But how cool is it that these advancements exist? If you’re looking to increase your self-esteem, sensitivity, orgasms, bladder control, etc., I say go for it (or at least look into it). After all, a little bit of girl power never hurt anybody.

Plastic Surgery 🚀Trend Report: Face and Fat

Plastic Surgery Trend Report- Face and Fat

It’s halfway through 2017 and we sat down with our very own board-certified Dr. Paul Wigoda, plastic surgeon extraordinaire to get the inside scoop on what insides people are scooping out this year.

Retro is Coming to Plastic Surgery

Dr. Wigoda tells us that “the biggest trend has to do with fat – fat transfers.” That’s right, the biggest trend in 2017 is a throwback from the 90’s. But don’t just take this award winning doctor’s word for it. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the rate of plastic surgery procedures is up three percent over the last year. The biggest areas of growth are facelifts and fat transfers.

The ASPS even breaks down the numbers for us:

  • Fat injections that are considered minimally invasive are up 13%
  • Fat transfers to augment the butt are up 26%
  • Fat transfers to augment the breasts are up 72%

Bringing Sexy Back

Where have we heard of fat transfers before? Well, back in the 90s, fat transfers were heralded as the Next Big Thing. But the procedure was ahead of its time, and hadn’t yet been perfected. Imperfect technique leads to fat hardening and forming lumps, which as we all know is very scary. Now, twenty years later, the procedure is back and much improved.

From Flabulous to Fabulous

Fat transfers involve taking fat from a problem area that a patient doesn’t want it, and reintroducing it to the body in an area where it would be more desirable, particularly to rejuvenate or round out areas of the body. Sometimes people aren’t even aware of the option. “I have a lot of patients coming in for liposuction that don’t really know about fat transfers, who have never even thought about it.” Dr. Wigoda tells us.

This is totally common – you can’t be expected to keep up with the latest procedures, that’s why we have doctors!

If belly or thigh fat is bothering you, as it bothers a lot of Dr. Wigoda’s patients, he can turn that problem into a solution. “We can take that fat that we take out and transfer it – usually to the butt.” It also minimizes waste, and who doesn’t want to be able to brag about recycling in the year 2017?!

Put Your Best Face Forward

Have you ever seen an adorable chubby little baby face? Of course you have. And you, like every other warm-blooded person on the planet, probably wanted to pinch those plump little cheeks.

As we get older, our faces tend to smooth out in shape. This is because we lose facial fat as we age. That’s one of the reasons why so many people get chemical filler elements in their faces to look more youthful – really what they are trying to do is replace that facial fat loss.

Why not do it with the real thing? Facial fat transfers are becoming more and more popular because a patient can now replace their lost fat with other natural fat from another part of their body. This avoids expensive and unnatural chemical fillers that have to be replaced every few years regardless. “We’re a lot more successful now at transferring the fat and having the fat stay basically forever than we were even a few years ago.” Dr. Wigoda tells us, underlining how much the procedure has improved and how much longer a fat transfer can last than fillers.

Also, fat can naturally rejuvenate the skin in your face, which can give a much more authentic youthful look that lasts longer than chemical fillers would. This combines well with a facelift, and Dr. Wigoda finds that having a fat transfer as part of the process “rejuvenates the face much more than just doing a traditional facelift.”

Are you looking to jump on board and put YOUR best face forward (and maybe lose some stubborn fat in the process)? Contact Dr. Wigoda for a free plastic surgery consultation today!

Breast Implant Tip: When It’s Painless, the Pleasure Really Is All Yours!

dr wigoda painless implants kimmy b interview (3)

We sat down with Hits 97.3 DJ Kimmy B and board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Wigoda to debunk “No Pain – No Gain” when it comes to boob jobs. We’ve all heard it, but how much better would it be if you could get all the gain and none of the pain?!

Where is a girl even going to start though? There’s so much information out there, so many doctors and options. We asked Kimmy B to take us through it.

The Painless Breast Implant Patient Down Low

“Unless you know people that have had, you know, breast augmentation – I came for painless breast implants – there’s definitely different ways to go about doing breast implants.” Kimmy B tells us, and you know our girl did her homework. She starts excitedly talking about all the awesome benefits of her painless breast implants and boy are there a lot of benefits! Lucky for us, we’ve got the Doctor himself in the room to walk us through them!

As she said, “I came to get my boobies done painlessly,” and Dr. Wigoda is here to clearly explain how his painless breast implants process really sets him apart. It all comes down to trauma – and as Chief of Plastic Surgery at a Level 1 Trauma Center, he is imminently qualified to handle trauma.

No Trauma No Drama

“The way I do it is a lot less traumatic and that’s the reason my breast augmentation procedure is painless. Patients generally don’t lose any blood when I do the plastic surgery, so they have no swelling afterwards, they have no bruising, and all of that reduces the pain.” Don’t just believe him though – take a trip down Kimmy B’s Instagram and check out her #WigodasOnFleek – she was on the red carpet only days after getting them done. Talk about no pain and all the gain!

Dr. Wigoda’s calm, thorough approach makes it so easy to see why Kimmy B picked him. As she says, “it is a surgical procedure and it is your body, so definitely go to somebody who takes the time to make you feel comfortable.” We couldn’t agree more, and we’re starting to see that Dr. Wigoda makes it painless before you’ve even decided to get the procedure.

Myth Bust-ed

A painless breast implant procedure is all well and good, but we have all heard that you need to get them replaced every ten years or so. Will that part hurt? Dr. Wigoda sets us straight, busting this myth wide open. We love a doctor who isn’t trying to squeeze his patients for every dollar, and we can see why Kimmy B put her trust right here.

It’s not too late to put yourself on fleek this summer – let Dr. Wigoda show you that the painless breast implant procedure can be just as painless as the free breast implant consultation!

Botox for Migraines: Kimmy B’s Incredible Injectable Adventure

kimmy b botox for migraines

Trading in your Advil for Botox? Yes, please. Now you can see the light without the migraine pain thanks to Botox.

Are you one of those people shoveling ibuprofen down your throat and squinting your eyes in pain as your head wildly pounds? You may be one of the 37 million Americans that suffer from migraines. Lucky for you, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Wigoda and celebrity Hits 97.3 DJ Kimmy B. share insight and solutions to get you some migraine relief.

We followed Kimmy B on her journey to get her painless breast implants, to which she poignantly called her #wigodas! Now, we check back up on her newest painless adventure, Botox for migraines! We caught up with her and Dr. Wigoda after their Botox session to ask some of the most pressing questions about Botox.

“Botox has been so beneficial to me as far as migraines go!” Kimmy B says, and adds how she also loves how amazing it makes her look!

Botox: A Crash Course

As always, it’s important to learn all you can about any procedure before you jump right into it. Let’s tell you a little about what botox is before we tell you all of the awesome ways it can help stop those pesky migraines.

“Kimmy B comes in primarily for migraines, but the Botox also helps with wrinkles,” Dr. Wigoda tells us as he prepares for the procedure.

As seen on Dr. Wigoda’s website, Botox is “a therapeutic muscle-relaxing agent that works at motor nerve endings (nerves that lead to muscles). It is in a class of drugs called neurotoxins.” It is administered through one or multiple shots into the muscle at different points in the patient’s body, depending on what it is being used to treat.

Other important tips to know about Botox are that you usually don’t see the effects up until three days after your procedure. Furthermore, a Botox session will last between three-to-six months. Botox to get rid of headaches will often be re-administered every three months. Don’t worry though, a session usually only lasts 10-to-15 minutes! Plenty of time to get rid of those headaches and then take the day by storm.

Benefits To Botox?

Now that we know the “in’s and out’s” of what Botox is, let’s look at some of the benefits patients are getting out of it and just how popular this cosmetic surgery treatment technique has become:

  • According to the official Botox website, BOTOX prevents on average eight-to-nine headache, migraine, and/or probable migraine days a month.
  • 100,000 people with Chronic Migraine have been treated with BOTOX since the FDA approval in 2010, with that number rapidly increasing!
  • Botox treatments can help reduce symptoms of migraine headaches, including nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to lights, sounds, and smells.

Bye, Bye Migraines, The Kimmy B Botox Way

Migraines are a debilitating experience, but they don’t have to be. Book a Botox appointment today and you can get $50 off your first Botox appointment with Dr. Paul Wigoda! If you are ready to make a positive change and get rid of your own migraines, just like Kimmy B, then contact Dr. Wigoda for a free Botox consultation.

Plastic Surgery: Rhinoplasty Patient Shares Her Journey On Instagram

Rhinoplasty patient opens up about the process of plastic surgery.

Jenny knew she wanted a nose job (otherwise known as rhinoplasty) before she was even a teenager. The 26-year-old healthcare professional from Miami decided after graduating college that she now had time to have the procedure. While she was hesitant to share details of other plastic surgery encounters she’d had previously, this time around she wants to share her story and help others who might be seeking similar procedures.

How One Patient Shares Searched and Found Her Answers Using Instagram

Jenny’s Rhinoplasty Plastic Surgeon Search

Jenny started her plastic surgery research where most people do, on Google. And in Miami, there are a lot of “plastic surgeons near me.”

She filtered them through by thoroughly looking at websites, researching if plastic surgeons were board certified and scouting for reviews of the surgeons.

She finally landed on Paul Wigoda, MD, who has been named one of America’s top surgeons by the Consumer Research Council of America, and who prides himself on pioneering the technique ‘painless breast implants.’

While she had a plastic surgery consultation with a plastic surgeon when she was a teen, Jenny wasn’t quite ready to take the leap at a young age. This time around, her only plastic surgery consultation was with Dr. Wigoda himself.

Instagram and Plastic Surgery

During her quest to seek plastic surgery, Jenny would look up hashtags on Instagram like #rhinoplasty or #nosejob. She searched out stories from real experiences to understand what the process would be like.

“As I did my searches for plastic surgeons, I also looked for, you know, real-life experience, with you know, having a rhinoplasty, and that’s how I ended up on Instagram because I would just search by hashtags.

She wanted to know what she was getting herself into. And she did. Pages with people sharing their stories of bruises and blood – the ugly side of plastic surgery – showed up in her searches. “It’s not a simple before and after,” she said.

And that’s what inspired Jenny to share her own process on her own Instagram feed. She even started a countdown before the rhinoplasty.

“I was hesitant about it because my nose was always my biggest insecurity…but I’m like, you know what this nose is going to be gone very soon so let’s do this,” she said about deciding to share her rhinoplasty plastic surgery journey on social media.

Jenny previously had a breast augmentation, but never discussed her procedure. “Although I never discussed it, there were some people that noticed, and they would actually ask me about it behind the scenes.”

Before, During, + After Rhinoplasty

This is what convinced Jenny to start talking about the good, the bad, and the ugly about her rhinoplasty. She wanted to be a source of knowledge and experience people could go to if they had questions. She wanted to give back like other Instagrammers had done for her when she was curious of the truth behind a “nose job.”

The Before

Dr. Wigoda kept her in the loop about everything.

While she doesn’t like needles, Jenny said she always felt safe.

“I was in good hands, I felt comfortable. Scared, but comfortable.”

And Dr. Wigoda prepped her for the after too – like keeping frozen peas around.

The After

Jenny didn’t have any pain, just discomfort. Her bruising went away quickly, and other than occasionally waking up, she was able to sleep.

“It was a rough recovery but they gave me everything I needed to make it as smooth as possible,” Jenny said about Dr. Wigoda.

Her cast came off eight days after surgery.

“Once that cast comes off on day eight, I was like here we go, like nothing happened. So it was nice, it was nice to just be able to go back to work and people weren’t like, “Hey what happened to you?” Jenny said.

Her Advice to You

Do a lot of thorough research. That’s Jenny’s number one advice.

Living in Miami, she said she hears a lot of stories of surgeries going wrong. She advises to not go to a doctor just because you hear a lot about them and instead rely on your own independent research.
She also advises making sure the plastic surgeon is board-certified and qualified.

Her last piece of advice is to seek out any bad reviews of doctors, especially if those reviews concern safety. She said she purposefully looked for bad reviews of Dr. Wigoda, but never found anything that jumped out at her.

Plastic surgery is a controversial subject that most people feel uncomfortable talking about. But with the rise of social media and people like Jenny sharing their plastic surgery stories, it’s easier and easier to understand that these procedures are safe and life changing so that everyone can feel beautiful in their own skin.

10 Most Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures

top 10 plastic surgery procedures dr wigoda

Want to know what plastic surgery procedures people are obsessed with this year?

Dr. Paul Wigoda and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) are both seeing a rise in the focus of face and fat. In a recent report and a video interview with Dr. Wigoda, there is a significant demand in patients wanting to use their own fat to sculpt and chisel away lines, wrinkles, and imperfections.

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Wigoda stated in January via a Facebook Live video that the biggest trend this year in plastic surgery is fat transfers. He went on to say, “We are a lot more successful in transferring the unwanted fat to another part of the body, like the buttock area, and stay basically forever.” Watch for more of Dr. Wigoda’s forecast on the top plastic surgery trends this year:

A just released ASPS report revealed a trend in recycling unwanted fat for minimally invasive procedures, butt augmentation, and breast augmentation.

Here’s how fat injections and fat grafting works

“Plastic surgeons harvest a patient’s unwanted fat from their abdomen using liposuction and then inject it to lift and rejuvenate other areas such as the face, buttock and even the breast,” said ASPS President Debra Johnson, MD. “Because the material injected is the patient’s own fat the results typically last longer than fillers.”

  • Minimally invasive cosmetic fat injections increased 13%
  • Buttock augmentation using fat grafting increased 26%
  • Breast augmentation using fat grafting increased 72%

Top 5 Cosmetic Surgical and Minimally-Invasive Procedures

Of the nearly 1.8 million cosmetic surgical procedures performed in 2016, the top 5 were:

  1. Breast augmentation (290,467 procedures, up 4 percent from 2015)
  2. Liposuction (235,237 procedures, up 6 percent from 2015)
