Tabloid reports have been abuzz with claims that reality TV star Bruce Jenner is in the early process of trying to become a women. There has been talk of hormone therapy, a more feminine appearance, even speculation that he has undergone a laryngeal shave, which is a surgical procedure used to reduce the appearance of a man’s Adam’s apple. It is commonly associated with transgender individuals who are undergoing a sex change.
While Fort Lauderdale plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Wigoda doesn’t want to speculate about Jenner’s ultimate intentions, recent photos do suggest an altered appearance for the former Olympian.
“It is public knowledge, particularly if you are a fan of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, that Bruce Jenner had a facelift that didn’t go well, and that he had it redone to “fix” the first surgery,” he states, “I would imagine he also had eyelids surgery.”
A report by Radar Online claims that Jenner’s sons Brody and Brandon stated their father isn’t planning to undergo gender reassignment surgery and has simply become more conscience of his physical appearance since the reality show first premiered. From what Wigoda has seen, there is evidence that the plastic surgeon or surgeons who operated on Bruce Jenner may have tried to do too much, even if he does intend to live his life as a woman.
“It seems that some plastic surgeons, perhaps because they are operating on a celebrity, want to ‘hit a home run’ when they operate on a big star,” Wigoda says, “They could overdo it, for example, by tightening the skin too much and causing the patient to have an unnatural and unattractive appearance.”
Some might say that the same thing happened to Kenny Rogers and Burt Reynolds, two other celebrities believed to have undergone plastic surgery.
The bottom line, according to Wigoda, is that less is more for anyone who is considering plastic surgery. The internet is littered with pictures of celebrities like Jenner that reinforce his belief.
